about me (CyberSrc) (real)

who am i?

yowhatup, i'm susie (aka my screenname CyberSrc). i'm a 22 y.o. scottish e-girl (she/they) (subject to change, maybe?) and i'm terminally online. this website is mainly a home for all the stuff i've done or am doing but there'll inevitably be a bunch of other random stuff on here too as i flesh out what i want this to be.

given the nature of some of the stuff that is on (will be on?) this site, it's entirely possible that current/future employers will end up seeing this site. if this is the case to whoever's reading this - hello! you might end up seeing a lot of really personal stuff on here alongside whatever you're here for - just keep that in mind when you go prying through my stuff, this is my personal site after all ;3

and that's exactly what this is - personal. i'm not here to use this as a professional portfolio or anything, although it will be the home to some of my techie hobby projects. but there's also gonna be weird personal stories and tales of my transition and stuff like that on my blog section - and god knows that if an employer found out i'm trans there's no telling what they'd do.

what do i even do?

good question. other than be a dumbfuck, i play a lot of games. i'm mainly in the jet set radio, tf2, portal, undertale/deltarune and sonic communities so you'll likely catch me gushing about how awesome these are at some point.

when i'm not swamped with other obligations i'm a streamer and programmer. i'm currently doing my master of engineering degree and you can see some of what i've done in that, along with my other personal projects that i do for fun (like this website!), along the sidebar here. it's pretty barren just now because i've not actually done a whole lot yet, but stay tuned for when i can talk about the secret project i'm a part of~

as far as my skillset goes, i use a bunch of different things. i'm kinda new to raw and extensive html, but i've used a lot of javascript and php before in my uni course. i've also got a decent bit of java and python knowledge from there too. outside of my uni stuff i'm mainly focusing on making games in stuff like js and pico-8 because it's cute, and i've got a decent bit of hammer editor experience and i want to make a full portal 1 mod one day, which i've started work on.

why neocities?

i guess this website is a way of reliving a very very brief portion of my childhood. i was born in 2000 but i was online from a very young age and my siblings were online around this time (i desperately wish i could've had a bebo account) so this way i can experience this era of the internet.

why neocities + twitch & stuff?

i get theres at least a bit of irony if not full on hypocrisy of being an old-web advocate while using these huge megacorporate services, but i use them mainly because there's so little other choice.

i see it in the same way as the yesterweb discord and those involved with it - it's better to use these services to bring attention to the issues that they have and advocate for a better internet using these platforms because people already use them - this way it brings a wider audience that encourages more change.

best case scenario is highlighting the issues encourages the megacorps to make a positive change (lol). worst case scenario is i get banned which will probably just encourage me to make my own service. probably without the blackjack and hookers but who knows.

either way:
